Meet Tammy

Tammy has been part of the Mind Forward community and our Seniors program for over 15 years. Her journey as a brain injury survivor began in 2008 when she was struck by a taxi. Despite the challenges she has faced, Tammy’s kind smile and helpful nature brighten the day for everyone she meets.

Tammy lives at The Village of Erin Meadows Long-Term Care, where she benefits from the collaboration between Mind Forward and the dedicated Erin Meadows team. Together, the two organizations create a supportive environment that allows seniors with brain injuries like Tammy to thrive. Regular visits from Mind Forward’s Seniors team bring personalized programming directly to clients, making rehabilitative and social activities more accessible. Tammy’s personal favourites include word search puzzles and bingo. She also enjoys special community outings such as going to the ballet or cultural festivals. Tammy is grateful for how Mind Forward’s programs have supported her in regaining a sense of independence.

Tammy’s brain injury has really deepened her appreciation for life. On tough days, she turns to her faith for guidance and comfort and encourages others in similar situations to do the same. “I see life with my God helping me and protecting me”.

Tammy is an inspiration to everyone around her and reminds us every day that even in the face of adversity, it’s possible to find joy and a purpose in life. Tammy’s story also highlights the importance of the programs and services at Mind Forward. Through partnerships with long term care facilities like the Village of Erin Meadows, we empower individuals like Tammy to live fulfilling and meaningful lives.

We are proud to have Tammy as part of our community and we look forward to continuing to support her and many other seniors in their journeys!
