Supporting Those Who Support Others
In addition to behavioural services for clients, Mind Forward offers behavioural consultations to family members, long term care facilities, hospitals and other services providers. As part of a consultation there can be an educational component regarding how an ABI may affect behaviour(s), assistance in identifying potential triggers, strategies on preventing behavioural occurrences as well as reactive strategies for when a behavior does occur. Consultation often includes interviews, observation and data collection as a means of identifying and understanding the function (the why) of the behavior. It is important to understand the function a behaviour serves as this helps in the design of both a response to and potential pro-social replacement behaviours which can be taught.
Mind Forward offers services specifically geared for caregivers, independent from their loved one. Caregiver services includes programs that are specifically curated for Caregivers. Some of the services include:
- Monthly educational workshops: details on upcoming workshops can be found in the calendar below.
- Community events: such as Yoga and Paint Night to help caregivers an opportunity to connect and engage with other caregivers.
- Supportive counselling: In the form of family support groups or individual counselling
- Neuropsychiatric consultation
