Inspirational Story by John

The Mind Forward Assisted Living program provides full time care and rehabilitation to residents who have survived a brain injury.
My name is John and here is my story:

I had an accident on my motorcycle in 1977. I underwent rehab in Nova Scotia for a while after the accident. Since then, I had some short-term memory loss, and a couple other things. But, I was in a bachelor apartment on my own in Halifax. I worked at a car dealership and I was a crossing guard for a number of years.

In 1994, I slipped on ice and hit my head while working as a crossing guard. I also had a number of other falls. I have been with Mind Forward since 1999. My staff love me, even though they know I’m a “troublemaker”. Or maybe because I’m a troublemaker! I enjoy going for ice cream, and coffee, but I most enjoy socializing with my staff and friends.
