INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

International Day of Persons with Disabilities

DECEMBER 3, 2023

Promoted by the United Nations (UN) since 1992, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.  It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic, and cultural life.

The notion of “Removing Visible and Invisible Barriers’’ is about breaking down the obstacles, seen or unseen, that can hinder accessibility, inclusivity, and progress. By working to remove these barriers, we open our doors to a more creative, diverse, and welcoming environment.

The UN’s theme this year is “united in action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals for, with, and by persons with disabilities”.
