Human Rights Day – December 10th

Human Rights Day

Human Rights Day is celebrated annually on December 10th. It commemorates the day in 1948 when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). This declaration is a foundational document that sets out the basic rights and freedoms to which all people are entitled, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth, or other status.

Human Rights Day serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding and protecting human rights for all individuals worldwide. It’s a day to promote awareness about human rights issues and to advocate for equality, justice, and dignity for every person, irrespective of their background or circumstances.
