Unmasking 2020 – Mind Forward

Hello everyone, my name is Natasha Pastores. As many of you know, this month represents Brain Injury Awareness. Every year, Mind Forward celebrates survivors who are encouraged to share their life stories through art, discussion, and/or social media. Last year, clients artfully created masks that depicted what living with a brain injury has been like. With the support of Headwaters Acquired Brain Injury Group (HABI), and Mind Forward, these masks were submitted to Ontario Brain Injury Association (OBIA). Our community has a unique group of individuals who have been able to relate and find comfort in each other’s personal stories. This year, through the Unmasking a Brain Injury 2020 Initiative, we were able to bring some of these stories to life. As a result, our peers reconnected and worked together to commemorate the lives of those who have survived an acquired/traumatic brain injury.
