Celebrating Nyree: A Decade of Dedication and Compassion

Employee spotlight - Nyree

Today, we are excited to shine a spotlight on Nyree, who has been an integral member of the Mind Forward family for eleven years. As a Neurobehavioral Support Worker, Nyree plays a pivotal role in our Seniors team, providing behavioral support and engagement to seniors in various settings, including long-term care facilities, homes, and hospitals.

Nyree’s journey into this field was guided by her innate desire to assist individuals who are often deemed hard to serve. She finds immense fulfillment in seeing her clients achieve their goals and witnessing the joy that spreads across their faces, a testament to the meaningful impact she has on their lives. One particularly heartwarming success story shared by Nyree involves advocating for a client’s simple wish to visit the mall, something most of us might take for granted. Her advocacy efforts contributed to a memorable outing that brought immense happiness to her client.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Nyree enjoys spending quality time with her daughter and family, indulging in spa visits, and staying active through regular workouts. She prioritizes maintaining a healthy work-life balance by refraining from work-related communications outside of her designated hours and engaging in daily self-care practices.

In terms of professional development, Nyree has completed a Behavioral Therapist certificate through McMaster and the Ontario Brain Injury Association (OBIA). She plans to further enhance her skills by studying Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in the future. Nyree’s advice for aspiring professionals in this field is rooted in the importance of prioritizing mental health and self-care, recognizing that one cannot effectively support others if their own well-being is compromised.

Nyree favourite TV show is “Friends”, as she finds relatability and humor in its characters. She also reveals her dream dinner guest would be Bob Marley, expressing a desire to delve into his profound messages of unity and love. She has a passion for traveling, not only for the adventure but also as an opportunity to immerse herself in different cultures and histories, showcasing her curiosity and appreciation for the world around her.

Today, we extend our deepest gratitude to Nyree for her ongoing dedication, compassion, and invaluable contributions to Mind Forward.

Thank you, Nyree, for all that you do!
